ABSTRACT

Cikuray train is an economy class train that serves Garut Kota, West Java province, to Pasar Senen station in Jakarta. The train has operated since early 2022 and shows a significant passenger increase. Amid the many choices of modes for this route, it is interesting to study the preferences of the train passenger in terms of the choice of modes. This study aims to determine the preferences of passengers using this train from Garut to Jakarta and other cities that it passes. Questionnaires were distributed to 211 passengers using cluster random sampling and assessed by the Likert scoring method and descriptive statistics on the reasons for using the train and first and last-mile modes. The analysis results show that ease of access, comfort, and safety are the main factors of choice; travel time and frequency of departure are the last considerations.
