ABSTRACT

Problems can occur in traffic, one of which is congestion. Congestion is caused by an increase in traffic volume on the road. To analyze the road capacity and traffic performance of a road section, it can be done by using the 1997 MKJI and 2023 PKJI methods. The 2023 PKJI replaces the 1997 MKJI and presents changes in the road capacity analysis methodology. The differences between the two methods include changes to the calculation of road capacity, use of sophisticated traffic models, introduction of new variables that affect capacity, and adjustment of analysis parameters. The purpose of this study was to compare the methodology and the results of the analysis of road capacity according to MKJI 1997 and PKJI 2023. In this study, we took samples on Jalan Diponegoro, which is located in Bondowoso Regency. There are differences in adjustment factors, namely the basic free flow speed of side barriers, city size, basic capacity, lane width, and direction separators and there are differences in the final results, namely road capacity and free flow speed.
