ABSTRACT

In the past, Lumajang Regency had rail-based transportation, namely trains from Klakah District to the south to Lumajang City and the endpoint was in Pasirian District. Based on the RTRW of Lumajang Regency 2012 – 2032, the RTRW of East Java Province for 2011 – 2031, and the Master Plan of the Indonesian Railways Program, there is a plan to reactivate the Klakah – Lumajang – Pasirian railway line. This study uses primary data obtained through questionnaires distributed at the research location with the Stated Preference technique to find out each respondent when faced with two or more alternative choices offered by analytical techniques using a qualitative descriptive approach to obtain an overview of the existing conditions on the research object. This study refers to three qualitative factors of mode selection, namely in terms of comfort, reliability, and safety. The results of this study showed that 57% of respondents chose trains in terms of comfort, 56% of respondents chose trains in terms of safety and 44% of respondents chose trains in terms of reliability.
