ABSTRACT
Construction activities require land clearing, which can lead to reduced green open space, air pollution, road contamination, damage to road construction, and disruption of the comfort of road users. The availability of green open space, which continues to be threatened, causes the Padang City Government to require 20% public and 10% private green open spaces. This study examines the ecological function of green open space in connection with the regulation. The green lines discussed include Raden Saleh Road, Khatib Sulaiman Road, and Hamka Road. The field conditions were observed by measuring and picture/video recording. The analysis was carried out to assess the field conditions with the existing standard criteria. The results showed that the ecological functions of the green lanes were mainly in the moderate category. The sound control function on Jl. Raden Saleh was in the poor category because of the lack of canopy density and poor leaf conditions.
