ABSTRACT

The transportation and logistics of livestock is very significant, especially with the geographical condition of Indonesia as a maritime country which is very at risk of causing considerable losses if not handled with proper guidelines. The Chairman of Supply Chain Indonesia, Setijadi, stated that Indonesia suffered a loss of approximately Rp. 1.625 trillion per year, based on the assumption of a 10% reduction in weight of 1 million head of cattle per year, which was caused by improper handling during transportation, which resulted in cattle in stressful conditions. This paper aims to analyze the transportation and logistics of livestock in Indonesia so that the strategy can be identified that are able to create standardized quality of livestock logistics. The research method used is a literature study sourced from journals, articles, news, and regulations related to the topics discussed. This study concludes that the transportation and logistics of cattle in Indonesia requires the right guidelines or strategies in order to create a standardized quality of livestock logistics.
