ABSTRACT
In Indonesia, numerous accidents are caused by brake system failures. According to the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT), three primary factors contributing to road accidents due to brake system failures in Indonesia include brake fade, decreased compressed air volume, and vapor lock. This research aims to design and develop a device for detecting leaks in pneumatic brake systems using a Research and Development methodology. The research results demonstrate the successful design and fabrication of a leak detection device for pneumatic brake systems, equipped with a safety system that can automatically activate auxiliary brakes in the event of a leak or when the compressed air volume drops below 5 bar.
